The Underfunded Disasters fund, as the name suggests, exists to enable World Renew to respond to a disaster when other funding isn’t available.
World Renew Disaster Response Services (DRS) works in communities affected by disasters throughout the United States and Canada, even if a disaster is not large enough to gain the attention of the media.
For example, donations to Underfunded Disasters allowed 240 volunteers to donate 35,000 hours from January 2015 - March 2016 to repair homes for 24 flood survivors in Pensacola, Florida. Donations were also put to good use in Washington, North Carolina as 148 volunteers repaired or rebuilt 12 homes after April 2014 tornadoes devastated the community.
Communities affected by lesser known disasters like those mentioned above are at risk of falling through the cracks and not receiving the help they need to recover. World Renew DRS is committed to helping these communities, and donations to Underfunded Disasters makes that possible.
