World Renew invites you to participate in the 2012 World Hunger Campaign. This year, World Renew/CRWRC celebrates its 50th anniversary. From its humble beginnings in 1962, World Renew/CRWRC has grown and been blessed to be a part of ministry in 87 countries around the world thanks to God’s grace and the faithful prayers and support of the Christian Reformed Church.

This year’s World Hunger Campaign highlights some of the things that World Renew/CRWRC has been able to accomplish over the past five decades and encourages you and your congregation to continue to partner with us. It also challenges you to model your hearts after God’s heart – a heart of justice, caring, and mercy for those must vulnerable in this world.  

The World Hunger Campaign usually happens during the three weeks leading up to World Hunger Sunday (designated by the CRC Synod in 1979 to be the first Sunday in November).  That would entail distribution of the materials on Sunday, October 14 and a culmination in World Hunger Sunday on November 4. However, the materials are suited for use throughout the year.

THE PETER FISH ARE ON FACEBOOK!

Some might remember this iconic fish from their childhood days or the days when their children were small. The little orange plastic fish banks are possibly the most memorable part of World Renew’s World Hunger Campaigns each year.

Churches distribute the banks each fall, children fill them with their coins, and the banks are collected so that the proceeds can help World Renew fight global hunger around the world. Now, the Peter Fish are virtual too.
 
We have a Facebook Cause to spread the word and feed the fish as much as possible.
 
Our goal – to maximize the number of people and number of dollars being committed to the fight against hunger.

Will you participate?

The steps are simple:

  • Join the Feed The Fish cause on Facebook
  • Donate $10 to CRWRC’s World Hunger Campaign
  • Tell 10 friends about your donation and encourage them to join the cause
  • Post an intriguing status on your profile page for at least five hours... For example: “<name> feed the fish, will you?” or "<name> didn't forget to feed the fish!"
