In recent years, due to prolonged conflict in Liberia, many in Liberia were forced to leave their homes and their livelihoods. Living as displaced persons, they had no income - no means to provide food or shelter for their families. Farmers who were able to stay in their homes were often forced to feed groups of rebel fighters.

World Renew began working in Liberia in 1982.  Work continued until war and civil unrest made it impossible for staff to remain in the country.  In response to the crisis outlined above, however, World Renew and their partner ZOA established a project in 2008 to help war-affected families attain income security and food. This project concluded in September 2011.
